Exactly one year ago I had the opportunity to be at the Surface Design Show in London. It was also the first time being in the UK's capital which was quite an excitement for me. I really did not know what to expect, because until then I had never visited such places before. At the moment when I walked into the main building, I was stunned by the size of the show. I was able to feel the atmosphere that was making me think that I would like that experience. There were plenty of brands with their own spots and plenty of people, of course. They were introducing their products. Walking between them I felt like I was wandering in a giant labyrinth. Everything seemed to be interesting enough and I did not know where to start.
One of the things that grabbed my attention was interesting mirrors that were a product of the brand SUN STUDIO. London. They also introduced me to their other products such as wall claddings, splashbacks, and a variety of mirrors. I took some samples because I was sure that I would include their product in my future projects. Later I designed a mirrored ceiling for my Beauty salon project with their mirrors.
Another brand that really liked was INNER SPACE. They were promoting materials for a design that is sustainable, recyclable, and considered as waste by others. They were using those materials for designing different spaces with green, fresh I would say atmosphere. Since then I started thinking about how I could design and be more eco or at least not harm the planet. With the examples I saw at the design show I was inspired to try it and combine those different but most importantly positive approaches through design.
After about an hour going from stand to stand, I took a break at one of the resting spaces. I had collected plenty of samples inspiring me for future designs and a couple of interior magazines. In conclusion, I would say that if I have the opportunity to experience this again would not even think twice. I think that really contributed positively to my approach to design.
